The Tāne Run Club was created as part of a broader commitment to improving the wellbeing of tāne across the region, with a focus on fostering healthier lifestyles, stronger connections, and positive habits that reduce alcohol and drug-related harm. As part of this commitment, we aim to:
- Promote healthy, active lifestyles among all men, with a focus on delivering through Māori and Pacific cultural values.
- Reduce alcohol-related harm by encouraging early Saturday and Sunday morning physical activity and accountability.
- Build connection through shared goals and cultural values.
- Foster a movement where wellbeing, discipline, and positive identity are central to what it means to be a tāne.
Through consistent participation, the Tāne Run Club aims to make an impact on the wider Tauranga community by:
- Empowering tāne to make better lifestyle choices.
- Increasing men’s accessibility to mental health and addiction support.
- Strengthening community cohesion.
- Providing visible, positive tāne role models for younger generations.
- Highlighting positive masculinity role models.
- Strengthening community connections across generations.
- Reducing alcohol-related harm and improving health outcomes.
- Celebrating cultural pride.
The Tāne Run Club’s long-term vision is to expand across Aotearoa, creating a network of healthy, connected, and purpose-driven tāne who uplift their whānau and hapori through healthy actions.
