Bringing It Home: 2026 National Māori and Pacific AOD Workforce Conference

 

Hosted by Here Today NZ, Belonging Ltd, and Mana Facilitation Ltd

Effective Date: 29 April, 2026

These Terms and Conditions apply to the purchase and use of tickets for the Bringing It Home: National Māori and Pacific AOD Workforce Conference (“Conference”), hosted by We NZ, Belonging Ltd, and Mana Facilitation Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”).

 By purchasing a ticket, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

 

1. Event Details

The Conference will be held in Christchurch, New Zealand, on 29 April 2026 at Purapura Whetu, 596 Ferry Road, Woolston, Christchurch

We reserve the right to make changes to the venue, programme, speakers, format, or timing where reasonably necessary.

 

2. Ticket Purchase

  • All ticket prices are listed in New Zealand Dollars (NZD).
  • Prices may be subject to GST where applicable.
  • Full payment is required at the time of purchase.
  • A ticket is only confirmed once payment has been received and a confirmation email has been issued.

Tickets are personal to the named attendee unless formally transferred via info@heretoday.co.nz

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel ticket sales at our discretion where necessary.

 

3. Refund Policy

3.1 Change of Mind

Tickets are non-refundable except as outlined below.

 

3.2 Written Cancellation by Attendee

  • Cancellations received more than 30 days prior to the Conference may receive a refund less an administration fee of 20%.
  • Cancellations received 14–30 days prior may receive a 50% refund.
  • Cancellations received less than 14 days prior to the Conference are non-refundable.
  • All cancellation requests must be made in writing to info@heretoday.co.nz.

 

3.3 Substitution

Ticket holders may transfer their ticket to another person at no cost by notifying us in writing at least 48 hours before the event.

 

4. Event Cancellation or Postponement

If the Conference is cancelled due to circumstances within our control, a full refund of the ticket price will be offered.

If the Conference is postponed, tickets will be valid for the rescheduled date. If the new date is unsuitable, attendees may request a refund within 7 days of notification.

We are not liable for any additional costs incurred by attendees, including travel, accommodation, or loss of income.

 

5. Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for failure to perform obligations where such failure is caused by events beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Natural disasters
  • Public health emergencies
  • Government restrictions
  • Civil unrest
  • Venue unavailability

In such cases, we may reschedule or modify the event format (including moving to an online format).

 

6. Attendee Conduct

The Conference is a professional, culturally grounded space centred on Māori and Pacific values, wellbeing, and workforce development.

 Attendees agree to:

  • Behave respectfully toward speakers, staff, and other attendees
  • Honour tikanga Māori and Pacific cultural protocols
  • Comply with venue health and safety requirements
  • Refrain from harassment, discrimination, intoxication, or disruptive behaviour

We reserve the right to remove any attendee without refund if their behaviour is deemed unsafe or inappropriate.

 

7. Health and Safety

Attendees must:

  • Follow all venue health and safety policies
  • Notify organisers of any accessibility requirements in advance
  • Take personal responsibility for their belongings

Participation is at the attendee’s own risk. To the extent permitted by New Zealand law, we exclude liability for personal injury or loss except where caused by negligence.

 

8. Photography and Media

The Conference may be photographed, audio recorded or filmed.

By attending, you grant us permission to use images or recordings in promotional, marketing, reporting, or educational materials unless you notify us in writing prior to the event.

 

9. Intellectual Property

All Conference materials, presentations, recordings, branding, and resources remain the intellectual property of us or the respective speakers.

 Attendees may not:

  • Record sessions without permission
  • Reproduce or distribute materials commercially
  • Share paid content beyond personal or organisational use without consent

 

10. Privacy

We collect personal information for the purpose of:

  • Processing registrations
  • Managing event logistics
  • Communicating event updates

Information will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ).

We will not sell or share personal data with third parties except where necessary for event delivery.

 

11. Programme Changes

While we aim to deliver the advertised programme, speakers and session content may change due to availability or circumstances beyond our control. Such changes do not entitle attendees to a refund.

 

12. Accessibility and Inclusivity

We are committed to creating a culturally safe and inclusive space for Māori, Pacific, and all workforce participants.

Specific accessibility requirements should be communicated at least 14 days prior to the Conference.

 

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by New Zealand law:

  • Our liability is limited to the value of the ticket purchased.
  • We are not responsible for indirect or consequential loss.
  • Nothing in these Terms excludes rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 where applicable.

 

14. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand.

Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

16. Speaker Agreements

16.1 Speaker Confirmation

All speakers, facilitators, and panel participants (“Speakers”) must enter into a written agreement with us prior to the Conference. Confirmation of participation is not final until a Speaker Agreement has been signed and returned.

 

16.2 Content and Delivery

Speakers agree to:

  • Deliver content aligned with the kaupapa and purpose of the Bringing It Home: National Māori and Pacific AOD Workforce Conference
  • Ensure presentations are culturally safe, evidence-informed, and appropriate for a professional AOD workforce audience
  • Avoid defamatory, discriminatory, or harmful content
  • Disclose any relevant conflicts of interest

 We reserve the right to request reasonable amendments to presentation content to ensure alignment with the Conference objectives and cultural values.

 

16.3 Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise agreed in writing:

  • Speakers retain ownership of their original presentation materials.
  • Speakers grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use presentation materials, recordings, slides, and associated content for:

o   Conference delivery

o   Post-event reporting

o   Promotional purposes

o   Educational or workforce development use

  • Where recording is intended for future distribution (e.g., paid replay access), this must be explicitly agreed in writing.

 

16.4 Recording and Media

Speakers consent to photography, audio, and video recording of their session unless otherwise agreed in advance in writing.

 

16.5 Withdrawal

If a Speaker withdraws:

  • They must provide written notice as soon as practicable.
  • We reserve the right to replace the Speaker or amend the programme accordingly.
  • Any fees or reimbursements will be managed in accordance with the signed Speaker Agreement.

 

16.6 Cultural and Professional Conduct

Speakers agree to uphold tikanga Māori and Pacific values throughout their engagement, including respect for:

  • Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles
  • Mātauranga Māori and Pacific knowledge systems
  • Lived experience voices
  • Workforce wellbeing

We reserve the right to remove or suspend a Speaker’s participation without liability where conduct is inconsistent with these values.

 

17. Māori and Pacific Data Sovereignty

We acknowledge the importance of Māori Data Sovereignty and the responsible stewardship of Pacific data.

 

17.1 Recognition

We recognise that:

  • Māori data is subject to principles of rangatiratanga and collective ownership consistent with Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Pacific data reflects collective cultural identity, heritage, and community rights.
  • Data shared within the Conference context may include mātauranga Māori, Pacific knowledge systems, lived experience narratives, or community-informed insights.

 

17.2 Protection and Use

Where the Speaker’s presentation includes Māori or Pacific knowledge, data, or culturally specific intellectual property:

  • Such knowledge remains under the authority of the Speaker and/or the originating community.
  • The Organiser will not commercialise, repurpose, or distribute such material beyond the scope agreed in this Agreement without prior written consent.
  • Any post-event distribution of recorded content will honour tikanga, cultural integrity, and contextual accuracy.

 

17.3 Storage and Access

Any recordings, materials, or associated data collected by the Organiser will:

  • Be stored securely in accordance with New Zealand law.
  • Not be transferred internationally without appropriate safeguards.
  • Be accessed only for purposes consistent with this Agreement and the kaupapa of the Conference.

 

17.4 Community-Sensitive Content

Where material is identified as culturally sensitive, restricted, or intended only for in-room delivery:

  • The Speaker may designate such material as “non-recordable” or “not for distribution.”
  • The Organiser will take reasonable steps to honour those restrictions.

 

18. Cultural Safety Statement

18.1 Our Commitment

The Bringing It Home: National Māori and Pacific AOD Workforce Conference is grounded in kaupapa Māori and Pacific values, with a focus on strengthening the Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) workforce serving our communities.

 We are committed to creating a culturally safe, mana-enhancing, and inclusive space for all participants.

 

18.2 Cultural Foundations

This Conference recognises:

  • Te Tiriti o Waitangi as a foundational document of Aotearoa New Zealand
  • The authority, knowledge, and lived realities of Māori as tangata whenua
  • The diverse identities, cultures, and worldviews of Pacific peoples
  • The importance of whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, and collective wellbeing

 

18.3 Expectations of Participants

All attendees, speakers, sponsors, and staff are expected to:

  • Engage respectfully with tikanga Māori and Pacific cultural protocols
  • Honour diverse identities, lived experiences, and professional roles
  • Avoid racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or otherwise discriminatory behaviour
  • Contribute to a safe learning and sharing environment
  • Approach kōrero with humility and openness

18.4 Cultural Harm and Accountability

Cultural safety is a shared responsibility.

If behaviour occurs that is culturally unsafe, harmful, or inconsistent with the kaupapa of the Conference:

  • Concerns may be raised with designated Conference leads.
  • We reserve the right to take appropriate action, including mediation, removal from the event, or exclusion without refund.

 

18.5 Safe Space for Lived Experience

Given the Conference focus on mental health and addictions workforce development:

  • Sensitive topics may be discussed.
  • Attendees are encouraged to prioritise personal wellbeing.
  • Support information will be made available at the event.
